Born and raised in a small town in Massachusetts, I started making things at an early age and earned a BFA with distinction from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2003.

In 2008 while looking for something to satisfy a terrible creative itch, I came across a hackerspace close to my home in Somerville and felt a great need to understand how electronic circuits and components worked and how to integrate them into my work.

I stepped up and volunteered to help organize the Boston chapter of Dorkbot, and through the group I met the friends who I would go on to start DINO Interactive Studios with, where working on web and mobile applications we dedicated ourselves to making amazing and joyful interactive experiences.

I met through other groups like-minded friends and in the hot June of 2009 we pooled our resources and created the Awesome Foundation, starting an avalanche of awesomeness through the funding of projects that surprise and delight.

I’m currently making things in Ottawa, ON. Recently I’ve become more involved in electrochemistry and food-hacking. In my downtime I like watching videos of cute animals hugging or sliding into things.

I’m open to working on new projects and I’m best reached at emily@emilydaniels.com.
